Our Full Face Aesthetics (FFA) Explained

At Skin Essentials, our focus and passion is our signature FFA.

What is an FFA?

It is our approach to the face that needs a comprehensive plan for the ageing process such that you still look like you, but better. Not just today, but with maintenance, for years to come.

For the face that is younger and not genetically blessed – especially around the eyes and lower face- this approach allows us to help you achieve what nature didn’t give you.

So what is our signature Full Face Aesthetics approach, also known as our FFA, or Proactive Ageing.

A full-face approach to aesthetics for the ageing face offers a comprehensive and balanced way to address the natural changes that come with age.

Rather than focusing on isolated areas (e.g., just lips, cheeks or nasolabial folds), this approach considers the face as an interconnected structure, where treating one area can impact the areas next to it, leading to “oddness” if not planned for.

Treating the whole face on the other hand with our FFA approach, leads to more natural, harmonious, and long-lasting results.

Here are the key benefits:

1. Harmonious and Natural-Looking Results
  • Treating the face in its entirety helps maintain facial balance and proportions.
  • Avoids the “overdone” or “patchwork” look that can result from treating only one area which is the single biggest reason women “of a certain age” are afraid to venture into medical aesthetics at all.
  • Done well, it need not be a choice between ageing naturally and ageing poorly. An FFA designed to you can help you look like the best version of yourself.
  • Enhances facial symmetry by subtly correcting multiple areas.

2. Comprehensive Rejuvenation
  • Ageing occurs in multiple tissue layers (skin, fat, muscle, bone), and across the entire face.

  • A full-face approach allows clinicians to address volume loss, sagging, wrinkles, and skin texture in a more integrated way which is at heart of Dr Joshi’s Proactive Ageing Triad.
  • It combines prescription treatments to address volume loss and lines and wrinkles and also skin and textural issues to help you look the way you feel for years to come.

3. Addresses Underlying Structural Changes
  • Age-related bone resorption and fat compartment shifts contribute to facial ageing.

  • A full-face strategy considers deep structural support (e.g., global volume loss) as well as surface features.
  • Helps restore youthful contours and proportions (e.g., the “triangle of youth”).

4. Prevents Over-Treatment of Isolated Areas
  • Without a treatment plan, it is all too easy for the patient to be in the driver’s seat and risks over-treatment of specific areas, leading to unnatural or distorted results.
  • Balancing subtle enhancements across the whole face allows for subtle but powerful corrections in each zone.

5. Customization and Individualization
  • Each face ages differently. A full-face plan is tailored to your unique anatomy and ageing concerns.
  • Allows for a stepwise or phased treatment plan, building toward an overall aesthetic goal.

6. Long-Term Planning and Cost Efficiency
  • By addressing foundational ageing issues with a planned maintenance, patients may need less over time.
  • Allows clinicians to prioritize treatments in stages based on what’s needed first.

7. Boosts Confidence and Psychological Impact
  • Patients often report feeling more refreshed and confident when the entire face looks subtly rejuvenated and they get compliments from people who tell them they look great, but can’t say why.
  • Avoids the distraction of untreated areas that may continue to show signs of ageing and may be a giveaway that “work” has been done.

Common Components of a
Full-Face Approach:

  • Upper face: Forehead lines, frown lines, heavy brows, temple hollowing
  • Midface: Cheek volume loss, under eye hollowing, prominent smile lines
  • Lower face: Marionette lines, sagging jawline, double chin
  • Mouth region: Lips and lines around the mouth, thinning lips
  • Skin: textural issues, sundamage, loose skin
