Skin needling is a service offered at Skin Essentials. Skin needling is a type of collagen induction therapy that has become increasingly popular in recent years. Historically, skin needling was primarily used for skin rejuvenation. However, it can be used for a wide variety of different skin conditions. Let’s take a look at what you can expect out of skin needling.
In the loosest of terms, collagen is a protein that is found in the body. As one of the most abundant proteins in the body, it plays a critical role in supporting the bones, muscle, joints, tendons, and skin.
When it comes to skin, collagen helps form a layer of cells called fibroblasts, stimulating the growth of new skin cells. It also helps replace aging and dead skin cells.
Skin needling has become popular in recent years, but that does not mean everyone should be doing it. When considering a viable skin care treatment plan, we recommend an initial skin care consultation to decide which type of treatments are right for you. Skin needling can be used to:
Skin needling works by penetrating the skin with small needles. The needling works by causing a controlled injury to the skin. Most skin types respond by making new collagen-rich skin tissue. When it comes to aging, skin needling will help reinvigorate your skin. If your skin is sun damaged, you will notice that skin needling will help replace sun-damaged tissue. With large pores, skin needling works by increasing the collagen around the pores, thus making them appear smaller.
With your skin care needling sessions, you might need three to six monthly sessions. After your initial sessions, you might only need a maintenance session every two to three months. Some patients start seeing results within the first few sessions.
Skin needling isn’t the right treatment for everyone. we recommend an initial detailed consultation with all new patients to see if it is a suitable treatment for you. As with any improvement regimen skin needling forms part of a personalized skin care plan.
